How to Play 8-Ball Pool
- Click near the White Cue Ball to start aiming. Your cue stick will appear.
- Move your mouse to change the aiming direction. A faint line will show the path.
- Adjust shot power using the slider that appears below the player info when it's your turn.
- Click again (anywhere on the table) to shoot.
- The first colored ball (not cue or 8-ball) legally pocketed after the break determines if you are Solids (balls 1-7) or Stripes (balls 9-15).
- Your objective is to pocket all of your assigned group of balls.
- After your group is cleared, you must legally pocket the 8-Ball into any pocket to win.
- Fouls include:
- Pocketing the cue ball (a "scratch").
- Pocketing the 8-Ball before all your other balls are cleared.
- Scratching while pocketing the 8-Ball on what would have been a winning shot.
- (Simplified) Not hitting any ball with the cue ball.
- (Simplified) Hitting an opponent's ball or the 8-ball first when not on the 8-ball.
- If you commit a foul, your opponent gets "ball-in-hand" (for simplicity in this version, the cue ball is reset near the break line).
- If the 8-Ball is pocketed on the break shot, it's generally a loss for the breaker (rules can vary; here it's a loss).
